IAR’s state machine design solution Visual State has recently added a series of new features to enable better cross-platform support and enable large distributed teams to collaborate more effectively
Uppsala, Sweden – May 17, 2023 – IAR, a global leader in embedded development software and services, today announced the latest version of its model-based design solution IAR Visual State. Developers use IAR Visual State to visually build their high-level designs, construct complex applications, add functionality step by step, and automatically generate C, C++, C# or Java code that is 100% consistent with the design. The latest version of IAR Visual State comes with better cross-platform support and new visualization features for rapid code generation, continuing to support low-code development.
IAR Visual State is particularly advantageous for large design projects in embedded applications such as automotive instrument clusters, autonomous vehicle systems, advanced power tools, vending machines, HVAC systems, tracking systems, elevators, PLCs and control systems. The solution provides formal verification, analysis and functional verification to ensure that the application works as expected.
“IAR Visual State enables companies to quickly generate high-quality code and manage complex designs efficiently,” said Anders Holmberg, CTO at IAR . “Additional features such as variant management, C# and Java code generation, support for requirements management (ReqIF format) and a modern hierarchical encoder enable developers to work in large distributed teams with different skills ranging from embedded to mobile/PC applications, including low-code development.”
The new version of IAR Visual State can better achieve cross-platform support to improve the user experience on Windows and Linux. The state diagram editor and navigator have been unified into one application with a new look and feel and tabbed windows. This allows developers to have the same user experience on both Windows and Linux. In the latest version, IAR Visual State already supports Linux Ubuntu 18 and Ubuntu 20.
IAR Visual State is a standalone solution that is toolchain and architecture independent. Developers can design state machines in diagram form, generate source code that matches the design, and automatically generate documentation. When Visual State is integrated into IAR Embedded Workbench, both tools can take advantage of their unique features, such as real-time state machine debugging directly in the C-SPY debugger of Embedded Workbench and automatic processing of source code in the IDE.
IAR will participate in the 2023 Shanghai International Embedded World China from June 14 to 16, 2023, and will discuss the possibility of state machine design tools to achieve low-code development in embedded systems at the technical seminar held at the same time. You can also go to the IAR booth (booth number: A121) to experience the Visual State Demo demonstration in person.
