Tencent version of Mendix Studio is now available to unleash the power of citizen developers and help cross-team collaborative application development
Beijing, China, July 22, 2021 – Mendix, a Siemens business, the global leader in enterprise low-code application development, recently announced the official launch of the Tencent Cloud version of Mendix Studio. Both the online and offline versions of the software are now officially available and can be used in conjunction with Mendix Studio Pro.
The Tencent version of Mendix Studio, which has a model-based visual development environment, is a major update to Mendix's groundbreaking no-code/low-code platform, which can help developers of all skills collaborate to build applications and promote the digitalization of enterprises. Studio is a collaborative, web-based no-code application development environment that helps business developers and users with less coding or software development experience create web and mobile applications without having to master coding knowledge.
Users can use Studio to perform the following operations:
● Develop application user interfaces using styled building blocks and widgets;
● Create a domain model for reading and writing application data;
● Visually model application interactions and flow control;
● Leverage enterprise design language to create engaging applications that adhere to company standards.
Among them, the online Mendix Studio has the following major functions:
Page Editor - Users can create and edit the end user interface in the page editor
Page Editor
Domain model - A domain model is a data model that describes the information in the application domain in an abstract way and is the core of the application architecture. The domain model includes entities and relationships, and entities inherit the characteristics of Java.
Microflows - Mendix Studio has a lot of built-in logic (such as buttons) out of the box, but to add custom logic you need to create microflows. Microflows are a visual way to express textual program code that can perform operations such as creating and changing objects, displaying pages, and making selections. As the most important core system of Mendix, microflows point out the most important principle of low-code technology, namely logical expressiveness.
Preview and publish applications - You can use preview versions to experience the end-user experience in advance, so that you can use preview mode to verify the effect of changes when developing applications. This feature allows you to test application logic, design, and behavior. When an application is published, it will be deployed in the cloud environment at the same time.
Check - Mendix Studio will check the consistency of the application in real time. For example, it will check whether the required attributes of the elements are missing to ensure the normal operation of the application. If the application passes the check, the check button will have a green check mark, indicating that the application is ready for preview or publication.
It is worth mentioning that Mendix is based on "Turing completeness" and implements a visual formal language, which means it has complete lexical, grammatical and semantic capabilities, so the checking function also includes grammatical and semantic checks.
Check syntax and semantics
Other features - Mendix Studio also has a theme customizer that can be used to adjust colors, upload logos, change text styles, and make the application look consistent and unique. Mendix Studio can also set up modules to describe security in Mendix Studio, user roles and permissions, as well as information about widgets and local widgets in the application, etc.
Unleashing the power of citizen developers
"Citizen developers" refer to business personnel who have never developed applications and have the deepest understanding of business drivers, goals and processes. They can use Mendix Studio to achieve business results delivery and seamlessly collaborate with professional developers to develop, build and deploy applications. In addition, Mendix also provides the necessary management and protection measures to ensure that the operations of novice developers meet standards and do not compromise the integrity of existing systems.
Online and offline integration
Technology integration has always been one of the localized functions that Mendix provides to domestic users, so it is very important to open up the editing capabilities of online and offline. The offline version of Mendix Studio Pro is not a "plasticized" product of the browser version, but a localized Windows system application software. Mendix Studio and Studio Pro support seamless, two-way, and continuous collaboration, enabling teams to converge on the right solution faster. From concepts, prototypes to working beta versions, every step of the process can be shared back and forth between Studio and Studio Pro for clear communication and rapid iteration, ensuring that not only products are created and completed quickly, but also the expected business value is fully delivered. Both Mendix Studio and Studio Pro offer the second-generation Mendix Assist (artificial intelligence assistant), which improves productivity and helps all developers reduce errors, thereby delivering higher-quality solutions faster. (The Tencent version of Studio will also have this feature in the future)
