Principle and structure of series motor
The working principle of the series motor is the same as that of the DC motor, and the left-hand rule and the right-hand rule can fully explain its principle.
The motor is mainly composed of three parts: stator, rotor and bracket. The stator is composed of salient pole core and excitation winding, and the rotor is composed of non-salient pole core, armature winding, commutator and shaft. The excitation winding and the armature winding form a series circuit through brushes and commutator.

The stator winding and armature winding of the series-excited motor are connected in series, as shown in the figure (single-phase series-excited motor principle diagram). The stator current is the armature current, and the magnetic flux φ generated by the stator is almost in phase with the armature current. If the load of the motor increases during operation, the current and magnetic flux also increase, but the speed decreases, maintaining the output power unchanged. P2=M×n/9.55 (W), where M is the torque (Nm) and n is the speed (rpm).
