Celeno Communications, a leading provider of smart, innovative Wi-Fi solutions, has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Haier Smart Home TechLink Challenge for its Wi-Fi Doppler Imaging technology.

Haier Smart Home, a leading global home appliances and consumer electronics company, held an innovation challenge to evaluate nearly 100 entries submitted by top European and Israeli companies for innovative smart sensing technologies to be used in smart home solutions. Celeno's Wi-Fi Doppler Imaging solution, a breakthrough technology in event recognition and analysis, has been selected to be promoted to Haier's global R&D center to implement advanced sensing solutions in its smart home appliances.

Wi-Fi Doppler Imaging leverages Celeno’s Wi-Fi 6 chip to generate high-resolution Doppler radar images to track objects and profile their behavior. The technology can detect and track the movement and location of people, pets and objects. This non-invasive technology can be used in conjunction with a standard Wi-Fi network or deployed as a dedicated, low-cost sensor. Both usage scenarios do not require any wearable devices or cameras that could compromise privacy to achieve the insights the system requires.

The imaging technology can classify movements and postures such as walking, falling, sitting, standing, etc. It can also detect breathing, gestures, and sense the presence of objects. This data is extremely valuable for assessing the daily health and energy levels of family members.

“Incorporating Wi-Fi sensing technology into home appliances can enhance smart home capabilities in many ways, allowing your technology ecosystem to know when and where you are at home, and even recognize human gestures so that functions can be adjusted to your lifestyle,” said Lior Weiss, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Celeno. “We are very much looking forward to working with Haier’s Smart Home Business Unit to introduce advanced sensing solutions and leverage our Wi-Fi Doppler Imaging technology in smart home appliances. Our imaging technology can create a safety barrier for the home and enable the development of a variety of smart home applications that can monitor family members’ daily activities, safety and well-being.”

“We are excited to bring Celeno’s technology to Haier’s smart home ecosystem,” said Daniel Oleiski, CEO of Haier Israel Innovation Center. “Haier’s Smart Home Business Unit is committed to creating better life solutions for users around the world, and we look forward to applying Celeno’s Wi-Fi Doppler imaging technology to Haier’s products and solutions.”

As a finalist, Celeno will participate in the next Haier Global R&D Summit, scheduled to be held in March 2021 at Haier's global headquarters in Qingdao, China.
