According to foreign media Guru3D, because Samsung cannot produce GPUs based on the Ampere architecture fast enough or on a large enough scale, Nvidia decided to transfer orders to TSMC.

Currently, all of Nvidia's Ampere-based gaming graphics cards are produced by Samsung. However, facing the problems of insufficient production capacity and market supply exceeding demand, Nvidia has begun planning to transfer most of its business to TSMC.

Taiwanese media DigiTimes pointed out that Nvidia has booked a large amount of TSMC's 7nm process production capacity for 2021.

It is reported that in addition to TSMC's relatively affordable 7nm quotation, another reason for Nvidia's transfer of orders is that the company had previously planned to diversify risks to deal with Samsung's 8nm process yield issues.

However, it is still uncertain when TSMC will start producing Nvidia's chips next year, and which products will use the 7nm process.
