At the end of December 2019, the finals of the 3rd Beihang Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition were held in Beijing. After fierce competition in the preliminary and semi-finals and layers of selection, Shenwei Technology's project "Ultra-High Performance Data Center FPGA Heterogeneous Computing Acceleration Solution" stood out from more than 100 participating projects and won the second prize of this global innovation and entrepreneurship competition.

Deep Dimension Technology's ultra-high performance data center FPGA heterogeneous computing acceleration solution is based on the most efficient Google WebP compression technology, and has developed a ThunderImage JPEG2WEP transcoding solution based on FPGA heterogeneity. Taking Baseline (an M4 mode) as an example, the business processing capacity of ThunderImage JPEG2WebP is equivalent to 10 times the processing capacity of the CPU (E5-2680v4), reaching an amazing 3,600 images per second, and the response delay is reduced by 9 times compared to the CPU. The improvement of these technologies will greatly save the network traffic and data storage pressure brought by the high-definition and massive gushing images that data center operators face in balancing user experience and operating costs.
At present, Alibaba Cloud and Tencent Cloud have successively released Deep Dimension Technology's ThunderImage JPEG2JPEG mirroring service. Compared with their previous 32-core CPUs, the throughput brought by ThunderImage technology has increased by 5.3 times and 9.4 times respectively, and reduced processing delays by 6 times and 4 times (if compared with 8-core CPU instances, this ratio is even higher).

Fan Ping, CEO of Shenwei Technology, said that standing out from more than 100 participating projects is a recognition and encouragement from the industry for Shenwei Technology's data acceleration solution. "In the future, Shenwei Technology will continue to work hard to continue to leverage the company's technical advantages in image processing and FPGA heterogeneous computing to bring different computing experiences to cloud computing, image and video processing and other fields."
Since the opening of the 3rd Beihang Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in September, it has successively entered the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, the central and western regions, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, attracting more than 100 innovative projects from famous domestic and foreign universities such as Beihang University, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Northeastern University, National University of Singapore, and Nagoya University in Japan. At the finals, Zhao Gang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Beihang University, Lin Jianhua, executive deputy director of the Haidian Park Management Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park and director of the Haidian District Science, Technology and Economic Information Bureau, Wang Youhong, director of the Alumni Liaison and Development Office of Beihang University, and other leading guests, as well as representatives from investment institutions, industry associations, university research institutes and enterprises attended the event.
