HP said on Thursday that its CEO Dion Weisler will leave the company in November for personal reasons after nearly four years in the job.
HP said Weisler resigned to deal with family health issues. Chip Bergh, chairman of the HP board, said: "On behalf of the board, we respect Weisler's decision to support the needs of his family."
Enrique Lores, currently president of HP's imaging, printing and solutions business, will take over HP from November 1. Lores has been with HP for 30 years, starting as an engineering intern at HP. He was involved in the split of the old HP into two public companies. He was also involved in the company's $1.05 billion acquisition of Samsung Electronics Co.'s printer business in 2017.
Regarding the transition plan for the two executives, HP said that Weisler will return to his home in Australia, but he will help Roles transition to the role of HP CEO and stay at the company until January 2020. After that, Weisler will retain his seat on the board until the next HP annual shareholder meeting next spring.
