At the 14th Shanghai International Auto Show, which just concluded, the performance of Chinese and foreign commercial vehicles was particularly eye-catching. Companies not only brought classic models that are rarely seen in normal times, but also brought many new technologies. Here, we have selected some of the new models and new technologies that have attracted widespread attention for readers' reference.

Mercedes-Benz Limited Edition Heavy Truck - Obsidian

The Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition Black Liner heavy-duty truck is the model that Mercedes-Benz is focusing on displaying at this year's Shanghai Auto Show. Only 500 units of this product will be produced worldwide.

In addition to the comfort features that are standard on the Actros model, such as the electric sunroof, electric sunshades, automatic air conditioning, ambient lighting and refrigerator, the Obsidian heavy-duty truck also adds many new electronic equipment, such as the active brake assist system that can identify stationary obstacles, the lane departure assist system, the body stability control system and the vehicle distance control system and other new safe driving technologies.

In terms of production technology and interior decoration, Obsidian has reached the level of Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedans. The exterior of the cab adopts Obsidian-colored metallic paint, combined with chrome-plated decorative parts and stainless steel pedals, which looks noble and mysterious. The interior decoration uses a lot of leather, solid wood and velvet decorative materials.

JAC Gelfa lightweight tractor

At this year's auto show, JAC displayed the fully improved Geerfa 6×4 lightweight tractor. The vehicle adopts an all-round weight reduction design, organically combining weight reduction with performance improvement, breaking away from the old idea of some similar products that simply reduce weight by reducing the thickness of the beam and using aluminum alloy substitutes.

According to reports, the vehicle is equipped with the IWC MF10 engine, and the 2.2 version of SCR technology can meet the requirements of the National IV emission standards. The in-cylinder engine braking function is more efficient and reliable than exhaust auxiliary braking. The EVRT electronically controlled turbocharger system further optimizes the boost pressure within the engine operating range. Under the same power, the total engine weight is lower. It uses the Fast 20-speed transmission, which has a large speed ratio range (0.73~15.06), a small step difference, strong climbing ability, and good fuel economy.

The frame is made of high-strength alloy steel, which has enhanced load-bearing capacity, reduced deadweight and improved safety factor. The front suspension adopts a leaf-less spring structure, which effectively reduces the deadweight of the vehicle while ensuring the load-bearing capacity. The rear suspension adopts a composite air suspension, which reduces the weight by 50% compared with the traditional suspension, and greatly reduces the frequency deviation of the rear suspension, improving the smoothness of the vehicle's driving.

In addition, components such as the fuel tank, wheel hub, and air cylinder are also made of aluminum alloy, which is not only beautiful but also reduces the weight of the vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz FleetBoard fleet remote management system

Mercedes-Benz Trucks has introduced the FleetBoard remote fleet management system into China. Through satellite positioning technology, managers can track vehicle information and driver operating behavior in real time, which can improve vehicle fuel economy. It also combines logistics orders, distribution processes with the company's internal ERP system and inventory information system to maximize shared information and thus improve logistics efficiency.

Not long ago, British supermarket giant Tesco invested 2.2 million pounds to install the FleetBoard system for its entire distribution fleet. It is expected that this system will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 10,000 tons per year and save fuel costs by nearly 5 million pounds.

According to Robert, vice president of Mercedes-Benz Trucks China, in Germany, a logistics company with 800 trucks and business covering all of Europe only needs 10 people to complete all daily operational management work including order management and vehicle scheduling after using the FleetBoard system.

Fast F-shift Truck AMT Transmission

Fast, the largest heavy-duty vehicle transmission manufacturer in China, announced at this year's Shanghai Auto Show that it has established a long-term partnership with Wabco. Wabco will develop and supply the next-generation modular mechanical automatic transmission control system OptiDrive for Fast. On this basis, Fast will launch the F-shift automatic transmission and mass-produce it this year.

The system can effectively improve vehicle controllability and driving efficiency by achieving automatic gear shifting and optimizing gear shifting timing, eliminating the need for gear shifting, allowing the driver to focus more on road conditions and improving driving safety and comfort.

By optimizing gear shifting operations, the F-shift mechanical automatic transmission can help vehicles save up to 5% of fuel consumption. At the same time, it effectively reduces the wear on the vehicle's transmission system components, thereby reducing the cost of vehicle use.

It is not uncommon for commercial vehicles in my country to use AMT transmissions, but there are few mass-produced products. This proves that developing AMT technology is quite difficult. Cooperation with powerful foreign parts companies is a shortcut for the rapid development of Chinese parts companies.

Engineering vehicle expert - Renault Kerax

The Renault Kerax dump truck exhibited at the Volvo Group booth is a model that excels at field operations. The prototype of Kerax was developed by the French Renault Truck Company for the military in 1997. It has a strong ability to adapt to harsh conditions and is widely used by users in South America, Africa, Asia and other places to undertake transportation work in open-pit mines and field operations.

The vehicle is equipped with a DXi116-cylinder inline water-cooled engine, an electronically controlled single high-pressure fuel injection pump, a maximum output power of 440 horsepower, a maximum output torque of 2000N·m, and a VEB engine exhaust brake, which can meet the requirements of high load and large slope heavy load starting under harsh working conditions. After being used in the mining area of Xinjiang, my country, the Kerax heavy truck equipped with this engine has saved nearly 30% in fuel consumption compared with similar models, with obvious economic benefits.

In terms of load-bearing capacity, Kerax uses a one-time stamping frame, fully built-in lining beams and reinforced connecting plates, with high overall strength and stability, making it particularly suitable for heavy-load transportation in harsh road conditions. The front axle of the vehicle uses a 9-ton heavy-duty axle, the dual front axle load capacity reaches 18 tons, and the ground clearance is 423mm. The rear axle is a double-stage reduction axle, the dual rear axle load capacity reaches 38 tons, and the ground clearance is 380mm. The overall load-bearing capacity is relatively high among non-mining special vehicles.

Sinotruk Shandeka T7H

According to the technology transfer agreement, Sinotruk has obtained a full set of MAN TGA heavy-duty truck technologies including cab, chassis, axle, transmission and related engine technologies. As the result of the cooperation between MAN and Sinotruk, Shandeka T7H has become the most noteworthy new heavy-duty truck product at this exhibition.

It is reported that Shandeka T7H has greatly improved its power and reliability compared with similar products, and its technical level is between existing domestic products and high-end products imported from Europe. In the future, T7H will adopt a new series of engines with an output power range of 310~540 horsepower, which can meet the National III~National V emission standards. According to different usage requirements, the vehicle can be equipped with different types of cabs, transmissions, and axles to meet the needs of short-distance and long-distance highway freight and engineering transportation.

To ensure product quality, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group has invested RMB 3 billion to purchase new equipment, and technical personnel sent by MAN will conduct all-round monitoring of product quality.

MAN AdBlue emission solution

At this auto show, Germany's MAN company showcased its latest engine environmental protection technology. In response to my country's upcoming National IV emission standards, MAN's solution is MANAdBlue.

This solution adopts the SCR technology route. MANAdBlue can increase the engine fuel injection pressure, improve combustion, reduce fuel consumption and particulate matter generation. By adopting SCR technology, nitrogen oxides can be greatly reduced, and fuel consumption, particulate matter, and nitrogen oxides can be reduced comprehensively. With the continuous increase in fuel prices, the fuel cost saved by using SCR technology can make up for the cost of adding urea solution.

MAN has always been a supporter of the EGR plus particulate filter technology route. This time, the switch to SCR technology shows us that in the competition between the two technology routes, SCR finally won MAN's favor with its low fuel consumption and ability to tolerate lower-quality fuel. At least in the market where the quality of oil products cannot be well guaranteed, facing the increasingly stringent emission regulations and the delayed improvement of oil product quality, SCR is the best choice. This is also an initiative of foreign companies to make localized improvements based on the characteristics of the Chinese market.
