On April 3, NIO announced that the first mass-produced 150kWh ultra-long-range battery pack officially rolled off the production line and will be launched in the second quarter. This battery pack is the largest capacity battery pack in mass production for domestic passenger cars. NIO models equipped with this battery pack have a maximum range of 1,055 kilometers. The previously measured range reached 1,044 kilometers.
The 150kWh ultra-long-range vehicle power battery pack is the world's first soft-pack CTP battery without thermal runaway. The battery cell used is independently developed by NIO, with an energy density of up to 360Wh/kg. It is currently the power battery pack with the highest power and energy density that can be mass-produced in China. The battery pack can be adapted to all models of NIO's first and second generation platforms.
It is worth noting that the price of this battery pack is relatively high. It is revealed that it is equivalent to the price of an ET5 of about 300,000 yuan. Qin Lihong, president of Weilai, once publicly stated that the cost of the 150-degree battery pack is very high, equivalent to an ET5. Considering that the starting price of ET5 is 298,000 yuan, it can be foreseen that the price of the 150-degree battery pack will be far higher than other ordinary battery packs on the market. Nevertheless, this large-capacity battery pack provides users with more choices. Weilai has currently launched two versions of the battery pack, 75 degrees and 100 degrees, with obvious differences in price. If the 150-degree battery pack is priced too high, it may limit its market prospects.
