According to MediaTek’s official Weibo and Forbes, at the NVIDIA GTC 2024 conference on March 19, MediaTek announced the launch of four Dimensity Auto cockpit platform SoC chips that combine NVIDIA technology: CX-1, CY-1, CM -1 and CV-1, both support NVIDIA DRIVE OS software and can cover multiple car market segments from luxury (CX-1) to entry-level (CV-1).
According to reports, the MediaTek Dimensity automotive cockpit platform chipset integrates the Armv9-A architecture and AI computing accelerated by NVIDIA's next-generation GPU and NVIDIA RTX graphics processing technology. It supports running large language models on the end-side of the car and highly integrates multiple cameras. HDR ISP and audio DSP can realize multiple functions such as AR HUD and electronic rearview mirror, which can reduce bill of materials (BOM) costs.
Previously public information such as MediaTek's official website shows that MediaTek's Dimensity automotive cockpit platform chip is manufactured using the flagship 3nm process and supports up to 16 cameras, 8-screen displays, and up to 8K 10bit 120Hz display.
This time, MediaTek also revealed that the MediaTek Dimensity Automotive Driving Platform provides a complete and scalable open platform, with NVIDIA providing intelligent assistance and autonomous driving solutions. However, apart from this, MediaTek did not disclose more cooperation details, mass production, customers and other information.
In April 2023, MediaTek released the Dimensity Auto platform, covering solutions in four directions, including Dimensity Auto cockpit platform, Dimensity Auto connection platform, Dimensity Auto driving platform, and Dimensity Auto key components; later in May 2023 During the Taipei Computer Show, MediaTek announced a cooperation with NVIDIA. The two parties will jointly develop automotive SoCs integrating NVIDIA GPU chips (chiplets) and provide complete AI smart cockpit solutions for software-defined cars. Senior Vice President of MediaTek's CCM Department Jerry Yu, general manager of the company, revealed at the time that MediaTek planned to launch its first 3nm automotive chip in 2024 and then achieve mass production as early as 2025.
It is expected that in 2024, more details of MediaTek’s Dimensity Auto automotive platform products will be exposed.
