News from Weihai Nanhai New District shows that recently, at the city's on-site promotion meeting for the construction of major high-quality development projects in the autumn of 2023, eight projects with a total investment of 4.53 billion yuan in Nanhai New District, Weihai, Shandong Province, started intensively.

Among them, Shandong Hanhang New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. ("Shandong Hanhang") invested 2.13 billion yuan in the sodium-ion battery cathode material project and built 72 new sodium-ion battery cathode material production lines and 4 electrolyte production lines.


The above-mentioned projects are undergoing pile foundation construction. It is expected that the civil construction of the factory buildings and supporting facilities will be completed before the end of the year, and partial production will be completed in the first half of 2024.

According to the data, Shandong Hanhang was established on February 21, 2023. The legal representative is Lin Ruqin, with a registered capital of 100 million yuan. Its business scope includes the manufacturing of electronic special materials; battery manufacturing; sales of special electronic materials; research and development of special electronic materials; and energy storage . Shandong Hanhang is 100% owned by Shanghai Hanhang Technology Co., Ltd. ("Shanghai Hanhang").


Shanghai Hanhang was established on May 14, 2015. It is a technology enterprise engaged in the production and sales of sodium-ion batteries and sodium-ion battery cathode materials. It is one of the earliest companies in China to carry out research and development of core materials for sodium-ion batteries and cathodes. one.


Shanghai Hanhang masters a number of key technologies and has been awarded the title of "Sodium-ion Battery Innovation Enterprise" and "The First National Sodium-ion Battery Evaluation Unit".


In terms of investment, Shanghai Hanhang has previously announced that it plans to invest in the establishment of a sodium-ion battery cathode raw material manufacturing and R&D center in Nanhai New District, Weihai, Shandong, and plans to invest in a production line with an annual output of 90,000 tons of Prussian blue sodium ion cathode materials and 50,000 tons of electrolyte. , it is expected that some products will be officially launched on the market in 2024. This is consistent with projects that have recently started construction.


Shanghai Hanhang also signed a 10GWh sodium-ion battery cell manufacturing project with an investment of 3.5 billion yuan in Nanhai New District, Weihai, Shandong. It is understood that the current energy density of Hanxing Technology's sodium battery cells can reach 150Wh/Kg. After charging for 15 minutes at room temperature, the battery capacity can reach more than 80%. In a low temperature environment of -20°C, it also has a discharge retention rate of more than 90%, and the system integration efficiency can reach more than 80%.


In addition, Shanghai Hanhang has also invested in sodium power projects in Xinjiang: In December 2022, Hanhang Technology's sodium-ion battery coal-based anode material manufacturing and R&D center project was signed and settled in Changji, Xinjiang, with a planned investment of 1.5 billion yuan. In July this year, Xinjiang Hanhang Technology's annual output of 60,000 tons of coal-based sodium-ion battery anode material base projects and annual output of 60,000 tons of lithium battery anode material integrated base projects have been announced.
