On April 12, Baidu Intelligent Automobile Division held a media communication meeting and announced that at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show, Baidu Apollo will appear in Hall 7.1, 7A08, and will hold an Apollo automotive intelligent business conference on April 16. By then, Baidu Apollo will bring a newly upgraded "polygon" product matrix for cockpit graphics and release Baidu's smart car open plan. This is also the first industry appearance of Baidu's smart car division since its establishment in the second half of 2021.
As one of the first companies in the world to explore autonomous driving, Baidu began deploying autonomous driving in 2013 and has been deeply involved in this field for ten years. Currently, the wave of automobile intelligence is arriving at a faster than expected speed, triggering a new round of industrial and supply chain restructuring. China has become the most active market for smart car innovation and the largest consumer market in the world. McKinsey China Automotive Consumer Insights in 2023 shows that 87% of consumers think intelligent connectivity is meaningful, 75% have demand for high-speed intelligent driving, and the proportion of consumers who need urban intelligent driving has reached 60%.
In the second half of intelligentization, the focus of competition among enterprises is not only technology, but also who can take the lead in fully meeting consumer needs and providing consumers with a safe, secure, and real-life intelligent experience. This is a new challenge for any company, and it requires companies to work together to create competitive products that meet consumer needs.
After exploring the field of L4 autonomous driving for nearly ten years, Baidu Apollo's intelligent driving algorithm has been verified by more than 50 million kilometers of professional road tests, and has accumulated massive data and mass production experience. In the second half of 2021, Baidu officially established a smart car division to apply its ten years of accumulated L4 technical capabilities to the field of mass-produced passenger cars to create Technology-leading L2+ intelligent driving system. Baidu Apollo has launched Apollo City Driving Max, an integrated driving assistant for urban areas, Apollo Highway Driving Pro for driving and parking, and Apollo Parking for autonomous parking, covering a full range of smart driving products with low, medium and high combinations. At the same time, Baidu Apollo also has products in the fields of smart cockpits and smart maps. It is the only Tier 1 in China with a full matrix layout of "cockpit maps", which can meet the various needs of domestic and foreign car companies for car intelligence, and fully Fangfang helps car companies build future-oriented smart cars.
Among them, Apollo City Driving Max is the flagship smart driving product created by Baidu Apollo. It is committed to providing users with a relaxing and enjoyable driving experience. It can not only automatically cruise, follow cars in congestion, change lanes and overtake, pass traffic light intersections, go up and down ramps, and walk through Tunnels can also realize safer and more advanced smart driving functions such as blocking traffic light signals, automatically adjusting speed limits based on traffic flow speed, and automatically passing ETC. In the second half of 2022, Apollo City Driving Max has already launched generalized testing in first-tier cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
During the Shanghai Auto Show, Baidu Apollo will release the "Smart Car Open White Paper" to share the new thinking of "New Whole-Zero Partnership" under the general trend of intelligent reshaping of the industrial ecology, Baidu Apollo and car companies will explore.
