January 4 news, according to Reuters, Nvidia and Foxconn announced on Tuesday that they will cooperate to develop an autonomous vehicle platform. Foxconn said it will manufacture electronic control units (ECUs) for cars based on NVIDIA's DRIVE-Orin chips and will serve the global automotive market in the future.
Companies developing electric and autonomous vehicles have struggled to bring their products to market in recent years as they face rising costs and difficulties increasing production. Nvidia said its technology, including chips that process sensor information in real time, will help Foxconn overcome some of these challenges.
It is reported that Foxconn produces electric vehicles for Lordstown Motors and signed a contract with Fisker to produce the second model PEAR.
The company said in October that it hoped to eventually build cars for Tesla as it ramps up efforts to make electric vehicles to diversify its business.
