According to foreign media reports, Northvolt's subsidiary Cuberg has reached a new milestone in the development of next-generation lithium metal battery cell technology. By continuously developing battery cell technology, Cuberg's battery cell cycle life has almost doubled and improved energy density and power.

Independent third-party testing of 5 Ah soft-pack cells showed that the cycle life was extended from 370 cycles to 672 cycles, with a capacity retention rate of 80%. This result shows that Cuberg has successfully developed what is said to be the world's highest performance and longest-life lithium metal cells, and has been independently verified at commercially representative cell sizes (3+Ah). When tested under the same cycle conditions and the same cell capacity, the cycle life of lithium metal cells exceeded for the first time the latest energy/power cells developed by leading lithium-ion manufacturers.
