At standard room temperature, the button cell samples were able to achieve 300 cycles with minimal degradation. These results show that the technology has the capability to meet the requirements for passenger car applications. The goal for such applications is to achieve 800 cycles with 80% capacity retention.
Figure 1: Capacity retention of multiple samples using Electrovaya’s proprietary solid-state hybrid battery technology. The coin cell sample was cycled at room temperature and 100% DOD at C/5 rate, with a capacity retention of approximately 94% after 300 cycles.
Electrovaya has also expanded to single-layer, double-layer, and quad-layer pouch cells. These cells can be cycled at room temperature without external pressure and maintain the same performance trend as button cells. Figure 2 shows the first 40 cycles of the pouch cell.

“The fact that Electrovaya achieved these results at room temperature and without applying external stress to the cells demonstrates the technology’s advantages over other solid-state lithium metal battery technologies, making it more accessible for adoption in automotive battery pack designs,” said Dr. Raj Das Gupta, the company’s chief operating officer.
Electrovaya has extensive experience in battery manufacturing and its goal is to scale and produce these batteries using existing methods. The company is expanding its processes to develop larger soft-pack cells and is working to bring its solid-state hybrid technology to commercial scale. "Electrovaya's Infinity Battery product line has been successfully proven in heavy-duty applications such as material handling electric vehicles," said Dr. Sankar Das Gupta, the company's CEO. " Now , this breakthrough solid-state technology is expected to achieve higher levels of energy density and has the potential to open up new applications in automotive and aerospace electrification."
