C&K, a leading manufacturer of high-quality electromechanical switches, has introduced a new photoelectric rotary encoder - the ENC Series 24-bit Photoelectric Encoder with Integrated Push Button. This new encoder is an improvement on the already very successful 16-bit photoelectric encoder. In addition to 50% more detent positions, the 24-bit encoder also includes a right-angle connector socket (a frequent user request) to make installation easier. The central encoder shaft allows for smooth and precise rotation, making functions such as mode selection and menu navigation easier to operate, and responding to user input quickly and accurately. Pressing down on the encoder shaft activates the integrated button, making the encoder an interface control method. This integrated, simple design makes operating the encoder as easy as clicking a button.
The new 24-position center selector switch has a smooth touch and allows for quick rotation. The encoder's 2-bit graded code output makes it very easy to detect the direction and magnitude of rotation using any microcontroller the user prefers.
The ENC series 24-bit encoder is ideal for applications such as in-vehicle entertainment clusters, navigation, and volume control buttons. It is also suitable for applications in medical equipment such as menu navigation, power cycling, and intensity adjustment. In industrial environments, it performs well in mode selection and other similar functions in control panels.
“The ENC Series 24-bit encoders build on the success of the ENC Series by making installation easier while providing users with greater functionality and more features. C&K’s comprehensive focus on user expectations and needs reflects our ongoing commitment to providing the solutions our users need and the high-quality products and services they expect.”
