HERZOGENAURACH and BERLIN, Nov. 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Schaeffler, a global supplier of automotive and industrial products, has won the "Golden Helm Award" for its innovative 2-in-1 e-axle. The award is selected by the German automotive magazine "AUTO BILD" and the well-known German newspaper "BILD am SONNTAG" and is one of the most watched automotive industry awards in Europe. Schaeffler's 2-in-1 e-axle stood out from many candidates, won the votes of many readers and juries, and ranked at the top in the annual innovation award category. Mr. Matthias Zinke, CEO of Schaeffler Group's Automotive Technology Division, said: "We are very proud to receive this important honor, which shows that our innovative spirit and commitment to electrification have been recognized again. With its innovative solutions, Schaeffler has become an important partner for electrification and sustainable transformation."
Modular system to meet customer needs
Schaeffler's two-in-one electric drive axle is a highly integrated system solution that integrates a reducer and a permanent magnet synchronous motor, with advantages such as high power density and low noise. Thanks to its modular design, the electric axle can meet different performance requirements and is suitable for applications on different vehicle platforms such as hybrid and pure electric. Following mass production in the Chinese market this year, the product will also be installed on a European automaker's model. Schaeffler continues to improve the integration of electric drive axles to provide possibilities for innovative drive solutions. Schaeffler has also launched a three-in-one electric axle that integrates electronic control, motor and reducer, and has currently received multiple mass production orders.
Successful cases of electrification transformation
Schaeffler's Electric Drive Division is key to the company's transformation towards electrification. Schaeffler officially established the Electric Drive Division in 2018 and has won many mass production orders in the passenger car and commercial vehicle sectors. Schaeffler Group expects that starting in 2022, the electric drive business will receive new orders of 2 billion to 3 billion euros per year. Dr. Jochen Schröder, President of Schaeffler Group's Electric Drive Division, said: "I am proud of our team and thank each of them for their hard work. Our team is passionate and committed to developing innovative product solutions for the automotive industry. These solutions are highly integrated, scalable and modular in design. Schaeffler's commitment to quality, understanding of complex systems, and expertise in production systems and technologies are our strong competitive advantages. This means that we can quickly bring innovations to mass production in a very cost-effective way and meet our customers' customized needs."
