Nidec's 200kW "E-Axle" drive motor system is adopted in the first model of Geely Auto's high-end electric vehicle brand "Zeekr"
Geely Holding, a well-known Chinese automobile manufacturer, has decided to adopt the 200kW model "Ni200Ex" of Nidec's (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") drive motor system "E-Axle" in the new electric vehicle "ZEEKR 001" released by its high-end brand "Zeekr".
The "ZEEKR 001" is a hunting coupe (*1) premium electric vehicle (4,970mm in length × 1,999mm in width × 1,560mm in height) developed based on the electric vehicle platform "SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture)" developed by Zeekr Intelligent Technology of Geely Holding. This model can choose a single motor or front and rear dual motors. If dual motors are selected, the maximum output power is 400kW, the maximum torque is 768Nm, the zero-to-hundred acceleration is 3.8 seconds, and the maximum speed can reach 200km/h. The battery is available in 86kW or 100kWh, the NEDC comprehensive range is up to 712km, and it supports fast charging of up to 360kW, and can travel 120km in 5 minutes of charging. The car will be available in China in the second half of 2021 and is scheduled to be sold globally in 2022.
Our company's "Ni200Ex" installed in the "ZEEKR 001" is the third product in the E-Axle series, and this is also the first product to be used in the "ZEEKR 001". In our company's "E-Axle" product plan, the "Ni200Ex" was originally scheduled to start mass production in 2023, but in order to meet the requirements of the launch time of the "ZEEKR 001", we have significantly advanced the production plan and started mass production in August 2021. Precision small motors are our main products, and the structure of the thin and short small motor uses the magnetic circuit design know-how established in the development process of precision small motors and the original motor oil cooling structure. Based on the original structure of the "Ni150Ex", our company has achieved miniaturization by adopting a thin and short small motor, and also adopted a second-generation inverter. These design optimizations have greatly contributed to the improvement of the vehicle's power performance, power consumption performance, sound and vibration performance, and the reduction of vehicle weight.
Our company's "E-Axle" is a unit system that integrates a motor, inverter, and speed reducer. Its small size and light weight are the main features of this product. Since April 2019, our company has launched the world's first mass-produced "Ni150Ex" (150kW) as a Tier 1 supplier, and the "Ni100Ex" (100kW) has been mass-produced since November 2020. The "Ni200Ex" used in the "ZEEKR 001" this time, in addition to the "Ni70Ex" and "Ni50Ex", a total of five models are all developed by our company. With this world-leading product lineup, we can meet various installation needs in A~E class vehicles. Our company aims to obtain a 40% to 45% share of the global electric vehicle dedicated drive motor market by 2030, and "E-Axle" will play a leading role in this.
The company aims to achieve sales of 10 trillion yen by 2030, and expects the automotive business, especially the drive motor business, to become one of its core businesses. In April 2019, the company took the lead in the world in starting production of the drive motor "E-Axle", and as of the end of September this year, it has sold more than 200,000 units in China, with a goal of reaching 10 million units by 2030. In addition, the company is also selling single units of drive motors, and has established a research and development and production system that can meet the needs of both modules and single units.
