Recently, two acquisition rumors about BYD have attracted attention.

 

Foreign media reported that Tesla will use US$36 billion (approximately RMB 232.7 billion) to purchase 20% of BYD's shares, with the payment method being 10% in cash + 10% Tesla equity.

 

There are also media reports that BYD is preparing to acquire Aston Martin at a valuation of 37 billion yuan, and further help the British luxury car brand achieve full electrification.

However, a media reporter asked BYD for confirmation, and BYD internal staff responded: We have never heard of it, and the above news is all false news! However, BYD intends to build its own high-end brand.

 

Tesla 2020 full-year and fourth-quarter financial reports released

 

In the early morning of January 28, Tesla released its full-year and fourth-quarter financial report for 2020. The report showed that Tesla's full-year revenue in 2020 was US$31.536 billion, an increase of 28% from US$24.578 billion in the previous year.

 

Among them, the total automotive business revenue was US$27.236 billion, an increase of 31% from US$20.821 billion in the previous year; the gross profit margin of the automotive business was 25.6%, an increase of 437 basis points from 21.2% in the previous year; the total gross profit was US$6.63 billion, an increase of 63% from US$4.069 billion in the previous year.

 

The total production of electric vehicles in the fourth quarter was 179,757, a year-on-year increase of 71%. Revenue reached US$10.774 billion, up 46% from the same period last year, exceeding the market expectation of US$10.4 billion.
