There is a new lighting company in the automotive industry, but Mitsubishi's lighting is a little different.

As early as 2015, Japan's Mitsubishi Electric announced a conceptual design for automobile auxiliary signal technology, which projects special patterns onto the road through vehicle body lights to convey information such as moving forward, reversing or opening car doors to surrounding pedestrians and cars, and is expected to improve nighttime traffic safety.

On October 10 this year, Mitsubishi launched the latest version of the projection system, which projects the car's driving information onto the ground to alert pedestrians and vehicles near the vehicle.

The Safe and Secure Lighting system does not work like a car's taillights or turn signals, but instead uses projectors and on-board displays to notify pedestrians and other vehicles.

When the car is reversing, the system will project a huge white arrow pointing to the rear, and a reversing warning sign will appear on the display screen on the rear window.

When the passengers in the car are ready to exit after parking, a stop sign will appear on the rear glass and a bright signal (a bit like a wifi signal bar) will be projected on the ground in front of the door, indicating that the door is about to open.

This system can detect passenger behavior through sensors, and once the system detects that the passenger is approaching the door and touching the door, it will automatically turn on the projection.

Mitsubishi said it will further improve this light projection system in the future to ensure the safety of vehicles and pedestrians. At the Tokyo Big Sight Auto Show from October 27 to November 5, Mitsubishi will display an electric EMIRAI 4 concept car version equipped with this projection system.

Coincidentally, Mercedes-Benz has also launched similar visual aids.

In addition to the luxurious laser welcome lights, Mercedes-Benz also launched a series of concept smart lights this year. These lights can also display vehicle traffic information and directions by projecting on the road, and can even guide pedestrians to cross by projecting a "light and shadow" crosswalk.

Such a heartwarming feature fully reflects the "gentlemanly temperament" of Mercedes-Benz.
