Hyde Acoustics uses Rohde & Schwarz CMX500 to accelerate 5G NR voice service (VoNR) testing
Voice and audio analysis expert Hyde Acoustics has decided to use Rohde & Schwarz (hereinafter referred to as "R&S") 5G test solutions for verifying voice and audio services of 5G mobile devices. The upgraded R&S CMX500 5G single-meter signaling tester has the characteristics of significantly reduced footprint and easy operation, combined with debugging and analysis functions, to support end-user voice service testing.
The CMX500 is a one-stop solution for a full set of audio tests. When combined with Hyde Acoustics' labCORE hardware platform and its ACQUA measurement and analysis software, this equipment supports audio acoustic testing of voice services in 5G (VoNR) and 4G (VoLTE) networks. This enables manufacturers of 5G-enabled devices to test the voice quality of their devices in the early stages before launching them to the market.
R&S meets the needs of audio test laboratories with its advanced solutions, which allow 5G NR devices to be tested in standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA), duplex mode TDD and FDD mode. CMX500 can support both the 5G FR1 frequency range of 8 GHz and the FR2 mmWave frequency range of 50 GHz, and provide the required functions and codecs for VoLTE and VoNR calls. New features such as connection selection make the configuration and even adaptation between the device under test (DUT) and the test instrument more convenient, thanks to the easy operation and visualization of the DUT antenna connection through the CMX500's RF connector.
Another important function of CMX500 is bearer and flow monitoring, which enables users to see the real-time status of various quality of service (QoS) flows, such as video or audio, through the connection. For example, all audio properties are visualized, including bit rate and codec in audio and video streams. The Hyde Acoustic labCORE system is connected via Ethernet and uses the integrated IP forwarding mode of the built-in CMX500 IMS server. This feature was developed specifically for this joint cooperation use case. It allows users to forward the established call voice data to the labCORE system for detailed voice quality analysis. If the labCORE system is not equipped with an IP interface, it can also support analog connections to the labCORE system.
Head of Telecommunications Sales Department, Hyde Acoustics Ltd.
Christian Schüring: "The R&S CMX500 offers a compact single-meter test solution that greatly simplifies the tedious processes of wiring and operation. We are very impressed by the user-friendly operation and easy-to-understand visualization of the CMX500. We are pleased to continue this important international partnership with Rohde & Schwarz in the future."
Senior Vice President of Mobile Wireless Test, Rohde & Schwarz
Christoph Pointner: “We are honored that Hyde, a trusted and renowned test and measurement partner, has chosen our new R&S CMX500 signaling tester as part of its test solution. It will enable vendors to develop and deliver 5G voice services more quickly. Its reliable and timely testing will accelerate the launch of VoNR-enabled products and ensure that product performance meets user experience expectations.”
