All SourceMeter instruments include Keithley's unique Trigger Link interface for high-speed, seamless communication with many other Keithley instruments. For example, use the Trigger Link interface to connect a SourceMeter instrument to a Series 7000 switch system for a complete multi-point test solution. With Trigger Link, a Series 7000 switch system can be controlled by a SourceMeter instrument during a high-speed test sequence, independent of a computer and GPIB.
Automation for high-speed testing
SourceMeter instruments can improve the efficiency of production testing. Digital sources output voltage or current and complete measurements simultaneously without modifying connections. It is suitable for reliable operation in an uninterrupted production environment. To meet the throughput requirements required by production applications, source meters provide many built-in functions to perform complex test sequences without the need for slower computer control or GPIB communications.
Standard and custom scans
The sweep scheme using automated hook technology greatly increases the test speed. The three basic sweep waveforms provided can be set to single event or continuous operation. They are very suitable for I/V, I/R, V/I and V/R characteristic analysis.
• Linear step scan: Move from the starting level to the ending level in equal linear steps
• Logarithmic step scan: Scans in a logarithmic ratio with a specified number of steps per decade
• Custom sweeps: Build special sweeps by specifying the number of measurement points and the source level at each point
• Up to 1700 readings/second @ 4 1/2 digit accuracy to GPIB bus
• 5000 5 1/2 digit readings can be stored in non-volatile buffer

IV Characteristic Analysis
Like all Series 2400 SourceMeter instruments, the 2401 SourceMeter is capable of 4-quadrant operation. When operating in quadrants 1 and 3, the 2401 acts as a source to deliver power to the load. When operating in quadrants 2 and 4, the 2401 acts as a load to consume energy. Voltage, current, and resistance can be measured while either sourcing or sinking.

Built-in test sequencer (source memory listing)
Source memory lists provide faster, more convenient testing because you can set up and execute up to 100 different tests without PC intervention.
•Store up to 100 instrument configurations, each including source settings, measurement settings, pass/fail criteria, etc.
• Pass/fail limit test speed up to 500μs/point
• On-board comparator eliminates delays in sending data to a computer for analysis
• Built-in and user-defined mathematical functions for calculating derived parameters
