Electronic balances are used to measure the mass of objects and are widely used in enterprises and laboratories. They have the characteristics of simple structure, convenience and practicality, and fast weighing speed. At present, there are many types of electronic balances used in China, whether they are domestic or imported; whether they are large or small; whether they are high-precision or low-precision, their basic construction principles are the same. How to correctly install, use and maintain electronic balances and obtain correct weighing results is one of the effective ways to ensure product quality. During on-site verification work, it was found that many companies' balances were not installed, used and maintained as required, resulting in large deviations in measurement data, exceeding the maximum allowable error required by the verification regulations. In order to enable the staff engaged in the use of balances in enterprises to obtain accurate weighing results and extend the service life of the balances, the following issues needing attention in the correct installation, use and maintenance of electronic balances are briefly analyzed:

1. Cleaning requirements before installing the electronic balance

(1) First, use a brush or deerskin to remove loose soil and other objects.

(2) Use damp silk cloth to remove dust in the weighing room or near the magnetic steel. Do not let dust and dirt fall into the magnetic steel to cause balance failure.

(3) Wipe the balance and its parts with a damp flannel cloth (do not use solvents).

(4) Wipe the balance and its parts with clean deerskin or silk cloth to ensure that the balance is clean.

2. Main steps for operating an electronic balance

(1) Connect the power supply and preheat the balance to put it in standby mode.

(2) Turn on the balance switch (press the joystick or the switch key) to make the balance at zero position, otherwise press the tare key.

(3) Place the container, read the value and record it, and press the tare key to reset it to zero so that the balance displays zero again. Provided by Chenglida Instruments

(4) Add the sample to the container until the required weight is displayed, record the reading, and press the print key if there is a printer.

(5) Take out the container and the sample together.

(6) Press the tare key to reset it to zero for reuse.

3. Issues to note when properly maintaining an electronic balance

(1) Always maintain the environmental hygiene in the balance room, and keep the balance weighing room clean. Once items are spilled, they should be cleaned up in a timely and careful manner.

(2) Regularly calibrate the electronic balance by yourself or periodically calibrate it outside to ensure that the sensitivity of the balance is in the best condition. Provided by Chenglida Instruments

(3) When the balance is not used for a long time, it should be stored away.

(4) If the electronic balance fails, it should be repaired in time and should not be operated with a fault.

(5) Do not overload the operating balance to avoid damaging the balance.
