The MAX8969 is a simple 1A step-up converter in a small package suitable for any single-cell Li+ battery-powered application. The IC features protection features such as input undervoltage lockout, short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown. Under light-load conditions, the IC seamlessly switches to pulse-skipping mode for improved efficiency. In this mode, switching occurs only when needed, maintaining high efficiency by reducing switching frequency and supply current. When the input voltage is sufficient to drive the load, the IC can operate in tracking mode or automatic tracking mode (ATM). In tracking mode, the p-channel MOSFET acts as a current-limited load switch, and the quiescent current can be as low as 30μA at no load. In ATM mode, the p-channel MOSFET acts as a current-limited load switch, and the quiescent current can be as low as 60μA at no load. In ATM mode, the internal boost circuit is enabled, which can quickly switch to boost mode.
