Photovoltaic modules are products made of multiple photovoltaic cells connected and packaged. In actual use, there may be cracks or mismatches in the cells, failure of internal connections, partial shading or dirtiness, etc., which may cause the characteristics of one or a group of cells to be out of tune with the whole. Detuned cells not only do not contribute to the output of the module, but also consume the energy generated by other cells, causing local overheating. This phenomenon is called the hot spot effect. When the module is short-circuited, the internal power consumption is the largest and the hot spot effect is the most serious.
