              Network Experiment Instructions Computer Network Experiment Instructions Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University October 2000 Computer Network Experiment Instructions Preface The \"Computer Network\" course is one of the important professional courses in the Computer Science and Technology major. With the rapid development of computer network technology and its wide application in today\'s information society, new and higher requirements have been put forward for the teaching of the \"Computer Network\" course. Since computer network is a technology with strong practicality, classroom teaching should be closely integrated with practical links. Building the \"Computer Network\" course into a world-class course is the direction of the \"Computer Network\" course in the near future. Our school has opened the \"Computer Network\" course for undergraduate students since 1984. At that time, due to the shortage of equipment, there was basically no practical link. In 1991, with the strong support of the department leaders and teaching and research office, we planned to build the \"Computer Network\" teaching experiment environment. This experimental environment provides students with basic network operations and functions, which reached the basic level of computer networks in foreign universities and scientific research institutions at that time. This experimental environment has made a great contribution to the teaching of the \"Computer Network\" course in our department. In 1998, we rebuilt the experimental environment. At present, the laboratory has 30 SUN ULTRA 5 workstations and one ULTRA 10 as a server. The current network experimental environment is not inferior to that of famous universities in the world.
