The P87C51RA2/RB2/RC2/RD2 single-chip 8-bit microcontroller is manufactured using advanced CMOS technology and is a derivative of the 80C51 microcontroller family. Its instruction set is exactly the same as the 80C51 instruction set. The device can select 6-clock or 12-clock mode by programming an OTP bit through parallel programming. In addition, 6-clock or 12-clock mode can also be selected through the X2 bit in the clock control register CKCON. The device also includes 4 8-bit I/O ports, 3 16-bit timers/counters, multiple interrupt sources-4 interrupt priorities-nested interrupt structure, 1 enhanced UART on-chip oscillator and timing circuit. The added features make the P87C51RA2/RB2/RC2/RD2 a more powerful microcontroller, better supporting applications such as pulse width modulation, high-speed I/O, and increment/decrement counting capabilities (such as motor control).
