In order to accurately identify the vehicle model in various intelligent traffic management systems, a large number of vehicle samples collected on highways with ground induction coils as sensors were analyzed and features extracted. It was proposed to use certain characteristic values in the data as the basis for identification and use the membership function as the knowledge base for identification. A vehicle model identification expert system was established, and a satisfactory recognition rate was obtained through experiments. With the development of the economy, the popularity of cars is getting higher and higher, while the speed of road construction is relatively slow, and the contradiction between the two is becoming increasingly prominent. Therefore, the most effective way to alleviate the above contradiction at this stage is to adopt an intelligent traffic management system to improve transportation capacity on the basis of existing traffic facilities. In the intelligent traffic management system, whether in monitoring or non-stop toll collection systems, it is very important to identify the vehicle model. Therefore, vehicle model identification has been a research hotspot in recent years. The commonly used vehicle model identification devices are infrared, microwave, ultrasonic, induction coil, video, etc. When the video detection equipment encounters low visibility weather such as fog and heavy rain and no lights at night, it may not work properly because it cannot fully capture the measurement signal. At the same time, when high sensitivity is required, the power must be increased, which will reduce reliability. When the sun is low in the morning and evening, the video imaging system is prone to operating problems, and all lens-based equipment needs to be wiped and maintained frequently. For equipment using ultrasound and microwaves, they all work on the principle of reflected echoes. Non-vehicle objects passing through the detection area are likely to cause interference. For detection equipment using ultrasound, changes in external temperature and airflow will affect its performance. Compared with these devices, toroidal coils are low-cost and easy to use. At the same time, the development of coil detection is also mature and widely used. This article combines expert systems with them. With the unique advantages of expert systems, the accuracy and intelligence of vehicle model recognition can be greatly improved.
