This paper designs an ultrasonic device that can make ships enter the port more safely and accurately. As an information carrier, ultrasonic waves have the advantages of good directionality, concentrated energy, low attenuation during transmission, strong reflection ability, low cost, and harmlessness to the human body. Using the reflected echo of ultrasonic waves to detect the distance between the ship and the obstacle can help the crew to dock the ship safely more specifically and accurately. 2 The principle of the application of ultrasonic waves in the ship entering the port According to the needs, ultrasonic sensors are installed around the ship to emit ultrasonic waves around the ship. The counting starts at the same time as the emission. The ultrasonic waves propagate in the air and are immediately reflected back when they encounter obstacles on the way. The ultrasonic receiver stops counting immediately when it receives the reflected wave. The propagation speed of ultrasonic waves in the air is C (this value is related to the temperature of the air). According to the time t recorded by the timer, the distance S from the emission point to the obstacle can be calculated, that is, S=CXt/2. The obstacle distance measured by each set of sensors is displayed by LED. In this way, the crew can clearly know where on the hull they are and how far away from the obstacle.
