A steam turbine factory in Shanghai introduced a 600 MW steam turbine manufactured by Westinghouse Technology of the United States. During the operation of Wujing No. 2 Power Plant and Shandong Liaocheng Power Plant, there was a phenomenon of excessive temperature difference between the upper and lower parts of the water in the middle of the high-pressure outer cylinder, which exceeded the trip value given by the manufacturer. In view of this situation, according to the structural characteristics of the high-pressure cylinder, the heat transfer of steam flow during the operation of the high-pressure cylinder was analyzed, and the phenomenon of excessive temperature difference in the high-pressure cylinder was explained, and finally corresponding measures were proposed. Since the steam turbine of Taishan Power Plant belongs to the same type, the steam turbine was improved to solve the problem of excessive temperature difference between the upper and lower cylinders of the high-pressure outer cylinder.
