The spanning tree protocol is used in Gigabit Ethernet to ensure that there are no logical loops in the network. However, the spanning tree structure of the network topology seriously restricts the performance and scalability of Gigabit Ethernet. This paper proposes that logical loops can be avoided by prohibiting specific sets of turns without completely blocking the ports that generate loops. It also specifically applies the turn model and designs a routing algorithm TR suitable for Gigabit Ethernet. Simulation experiments show that the network performance of the TR routing algorithm is significantly improved compared to the spanning tree algorithm.
