Medici is a software for 2D device simulation from AVANT!. It models the potential field and the 2D distribution of carriers, and obtains the electrical characteristics under a specific bias by solving the Poisson equation and the current continuity equations for electrons and holes. This software can be used to simulate bipolar, MOS and other semiconductor devices. This program analyzes the device by solving the current continuity equation and Poisson equation for diodes and bipolar transistors and current effects related to double carriers (such as latch-up effect). Medici can also analyze devices where single carriers play a major role, such as MOSFET, JFET, MESFET. In addition, MEDICI can also be used to analyze the changes of devices under transient conditions. In submicron device simulation, MEDICI can simulate deep submicron devices by jointly solving the energy balance of electrons and holes and other device equations. Effects such as hot carriers and velocity overshoot have been considered in MEDICI, and their influence can be analyzed.
