WMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access), also known as Global Microwave Access Interoperability, is a wireless metropolitan area network technology led by Intel and based on the IEEE 802.16a\\d\\e standard. It is an IEEE802.16a technical standard with a transmission radius of up to 31 miles (50 kilometers) and a high-speed transmission of 75 Mbps. Therefore, it is defined as a wireless metropolitan area network access technology or a wide area wireless solution. In terms of spectrum, it is also called IEEE 802.16a/d/e WirelessMAN. WiMAX will not only solve the problem of high-speed access to wireless broadband, but also serve as a wireless extension of wired network access (Cable, dial-up Internet access, DSL, WLAN), and easily realize network connection with remote areas. Therefore, WiMAX has naturally become the third largest broadband line after CATV and DSL lines.
