Based on the wireless communication technology GPRS and the Internet, a locomotive status monitoring and management system is designed. After the data collected on site is processed, a preliminary diagnosis of whether there is any fault is made and corresponding alarm prompts are issued. The data is transmitted to the locomotive depot via GPRS, saved in the database, and the diagnosis results and treatment countermeasures are obtained through expert system or manual analysis, and sent back to the locomotive. This article briefly introduces the hardware composition of the entire system, data acquisition and GPRS wireless communication. The issues of data integrity and security during GPRS data transmission are raised and answered. The software functions and specific implementation methods of the locomotive depot management system are also introduced in detail. Keywords: locomotive; GPRS; wireless communication
