Active Power Filter (APF) is a very effective device for controlling harmonic pollution in power systems in recent years. As we all know, the widespread use of power electronic devices and nonlinear loads has caused a large amount of harmonic current and reactive current to be injected into the power grid, seriously threatening the safe operation and normal use of the power grid and electrical equipment, and generating a large amount of energy waste. With the strategic policy of building a conservation-oriented society proposed in my country\'s \"Eleventh Five-Year Plan\", the research work on harmonic and reactive power control using APF will have a broad application prospect. This paper explains the basic principles of active power filters, introduces the classification and circuit topology of several major APFs at present, analyzes the structures of three-phase three-wire and three-phase four-wire APFs respectively, establishes two mathematical models, and points out the limitations of the application of three-phase three-wire APFs in actual power supply systems. This paper introduces three currently widely used current control methods and a relatively advanced space vector control method. For the core of APF system - harmonic detection, this paper introduces three harmonic detection theories, focusing on the detailed theoretical analysis of the instantaneous reactive power theory adopted by the APF designed in this paper, and establishes a three-phase four-wire APF system simulation model based on the instantaneous reactive power theory in MATLAB software to verify the feasibility of the instantaneous reactive power theory. On the basis of a large number of theoretical analysis and verification, an active power filter using a single-chip microcomputer and a DSP dual CPU is designed. In terms of hardware, the clock circuit and simulator interface circuit of the single-chip microcomputer are designed; the clock circuit and external memory expansion circuit of the DSP are designed; the voltage cycle detection circuit and the current absolute value conversion circuit of the APF system are designed, etc. In terms of software, the main program and interrupt program of the single-chip microcomputer, the main program and startup handling program of the DSP are written, debugged and powered on for actual testing and experimental analysis.
