By using computer software technology (EDA technology) and the flexibility of FPGA/CPLD, high-speed and low-speed UARTs can be designed quickly and easily. High-speed UARTs can be used in optical fiber communication, and low-speed UARTs can be used in the communication between FPGA/CPLD and single-chip microcomputer. The design includes the sending module, receiving module and baud rate generator of UART, and the realization of all functions is described by VHDL hardware description language. Design, synthesis and simulation are realized in the software development environment of QUART US II.
