Based on a comprehensive analysis of the damage status of HK40 furnace tubes that have been in service for 10 years, the creep crack growth rates of the base metal and welded joints of HK40 furnace tubes were studied, and the creep crack growth resistance of these two different parts was evaluated. The results show that in long-term normal operation, especially in the later period of service, the creep crack growth in the weld of the lower furnace tube is faster than that in the base metal. Microstructure damage and stress concentration in the weld are two important factors that cause the weld creep crack to grow faster.
