This paper describes the design and application of a ship automatic monitoring system based on the communication between Siemens communication module CP-340 PLC and MAN B&M diesel main engine. Through Siemens programmable controller S7-300 and CP-340 communication module, and based on RS-422 fieldbus protocol, the analog quantities such as lubricating oil pressure, oil temperature, fresh water pressure, gas temperature and switch alarm quantities such as water level and oil tank high level of the ship diesel engine are monitored and displayed on the various instruments and displays of the engine room console, realizing automatic monitoring of the ship engine room. The actual application in the engine room of large and medium-sized ships shows that the monitoring system has complete functions, excellent performance and high reliability, and can fully meet the requirements of ship navigation.
