The service conditions of oil pipelines are harsh, and the implementation of on-site flaw detection of oil pipelines is of great significance to prevent the occurrence of oil pipeline leakage or breakage accidents. This paper proposes a new type of magnetic detection sensor for oil pipeline defects, which uses hardware redundancy technology, magnetic field detection technology and multi-probe unit follow-up centering technology to achieve comprehensive detection of local defects and wall thinning defects; and through theoretical analysis, the linear relationship between the output signal amplitude of the sensor and the remaining cross-sectional area of the oil pipeline is obtained. The test results show that the sensor has the characteristics of high defect resolution, stable and reliable, simple structure, and strong on-site adaptability. Keywords: oil pipeline; defect; leakage magnetic field; non-destructive testing; magnetic sensor
