Digital Data Network (DDN) is a data transmission network that uses digital channels to transmit data signals. Its transmission media include optical cables, digital microwaves, satellite channels, and ordinary cables and twisted pairs available at the user end. Compared with traditional analog channels, the use of digital channels to transmit data signals has a series of advantages such as high transmission quality, fast speed, and high bandwidth utilization. DDN provides users with semi-permanent digital connections. No complex software processing is performed along the way, so the delay is short, avoiding the shortcomings of large and unstable transmission delays in packet networks; DDN uses cross-connection devices, which can connect lines with required bandwidth within the agreed time according to user needs. The allocation and connection of channel capacity are carried out under computer control, which has great flexibility, allowing users to open a wide variety of information services and transmit any appropriate information. DDN has four components: digital channels, DDN nodes, network management control, and user loops.
