  PID controllers appeared almost at the same time as the feedback control theory was produced. Although the control theory has gone through different stages of development, such as classical control theory, modern control theory, large system control theory, intelligent and robust control theory, the application of PID controllers is still very extensive. Not only industrial production process control systems, but also electromechanical control systems and electrical transmission systems are increasingly using PID control modes. Traditionally, it is believed that PID control methods are only applicable to low-frequency systems, and not to higher-frequency systems. With the promotion and application of digital PID controllers, short-time constant PID controllers and PLC controllers, this view has become difficult to define the scope of application of PID controllers. PID applications have involved non-traditional fields such as CNC machine tool control and elevator control.
