Digital π/4-DQPSK is a linear narrowband modulation technology with outstanding features such as high spectrum utilization, good spectrum characteristics, strong anti-fading performance, and available non-coherent demodulation. It is widely used in mobile communications and satellite communications. This paper introduces the basic principles of π/4-DQPSK modulation and demodulation and the design and implementation of each module; completes the Matlab simulation design of the modulation and demodulation algorithm; uses VHDL hardware description language to design and implement each module in the ISE5.2 development environment of Xilinx, passes the timing simulation, and realizes correct demodulation; analyzes the bit error rate detected by 1bit differential in the implementation process. The article obtains the bit error rate expression under static Gaussian noise when the signal-to-noise ratio is 16dB. Use Protel99SE to design the PCB board, complete the program download into the FPGA chip and circuit debugging, the input symbol rate is 200kbps, and the modulation intermediate frequency is 455kHz. The test results verify the correctness of the program and realize the π/4-DQPSK modulation and demodulation system to achieve the predetermined goal.
