Rubidium clock reference units provide extremely high-accuracy signals for metrology standard work, and also provide very high-accuracy signals for satellite control center master clocks or telecommunications timing. The accuracy of a Rubidium reference oscillator when operating independently is more than two orders of magnitude higher than that of a quartz reference unit.
