This paper first discusses the impact of the structure of the counter module on the efficiency of the time event processing task of the microcontroller system. Then, by comparing the structures of the PCA and eMIOS modules, the characteristics and functions of the eMIOS module are analyzed and related applications are introduced. Keywords: Time event counter eMIOS In microcontroller applications, there are many tasks related to time events such as pulse width measurement and high-speed waveform output. Such tasks all involve the use of counters, requiring the counter module to complete many operations such as input capture, output comparison, pulse counting, complex waveform output and even multi-channel coordinated control. To this end, the counter module has experienced the development from a single-channel counter to a multi-channel programmable counter array, and then to a time processing unit (TPU) that can be operated using code programming, and is still moving towards more powerful functions and easier control.
