This paper proposes a SPIHT-like coding algorithm that combines Contourlet transform and wavelet transform and uses a new spatial directional tree. The algorithm first performs Contourlet transform on the image, then performs multi-level wavelet transform on the transformed low-frequency subband, and then constructs a new spatial directional tree based on the structural characteristics of the transformed coefficients and draws on the wavelet SPIHT coding idea to achieve SPIHT-like coding of the transformed coefficients. Simulation experimental results show that compared with wavelet transform, Contourlet transform and SPIHT algorithm based on wavelet Contourlet transform, the reconstructed image retains more texture and detail information and has a higher peak signal-to-noise ratio at low bit rates.
