With the continuous maturity of photoelectric sensor technology, its practical application in substation automation systems has become a research focus. Based on the analysis of the performance characteristics of photoelectric sensors, this paper explains the impact of the application of photoelectric sensors on substation communication control systems from two aspects: the impact of communication methods and communication system structure. Combined with the current status of my country\'s substation automation system, this paper focuses on the application methods and steps of photoelectric sensors in substation automation systems: using instrument sensor units to realize the interface between photoelectric sensors and communication networks; according to the development of communication technology and the application needs of substations, the access methods of photoelectric sensors can be divided into three different forms. As a new type of electronic mutual inductor, the application of photoelectric sensors will have a profound impact on substation automation systems.
