Most of the domestic enclosed busbar insulators are assembled in a positive Y (or inverted Y) three-support structure composed of mushroom-head hardware and non-flange base. This structure has fatal defects such as the insulator is prone to skew and the screw holes on the base are prone to irreparable damage. It is suggested to adopt a new four-support structure composed of Y-shaped hardware and flange base to overcome these defects and improve the reliability of enclosed busbar operation.
