Analysis and Comparison of Three Mainstream 3G Technology Systems3G Topic3G ColumnAnalysis and Comparison of Three Mainstream 3G Technology SystemsZhang ZhongzhaoZhang YiMeng WeixiaoInstitute of Communication Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology【Abstract】 Aiming at the development of current and future communication technology, this paper briefly introduces the three main technology systems of 3G development, namely WCDMA, cDMA 2000 and TD-SCDMA, and compares these three systems from the aspects of technical characteristics, license issuance, spectrum allocation, operation status, product maturity and industrial chain. 1 IntroductionAs early as 1985, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) proposed the concept of third-generation mobile communication, which was called Future Public Land Mobile Telecommunications System (FPLMTS) at that time and changed to IMT-2000 in 1996. In October 1998, the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) was launched. In January 1999, 3GPP2 was formally established. The organization includes TIA of the United States, CWTS of China, ARIB of Japan, TTA of South Korea, etc. Its purpose is to formulate standards with ANSI/IS-41 as the core network and cdma2000 and WUC136 as the wireless interface. In the first half of 1999, the global IMT-2000 standard made great progress. The standard can meet the political and commercial requirements of different technical entities GSM, CDMA and TDMA. As of September 1998, 16 proposals for wireless transmission technology (RTT) were submitted. In addition to the 6 satellite interface solutions, there are 10 ground wireless interface solutions, which are mainly divided into two categories: CDMA and TDMA, among which CDMA occupies a dominant position. These technologies cover the European WCDMA, the American cdma2000 and my country\'s TD-SCDMA and other standards. / GPRS core network structure. The difference from GSM is that...
