Abstract: Objective To study the architectural characteristics of the anterior brachial muscles, explore the function of this muscle group and provide morphological data for clinical application. Methods Six adult cadavers fixed with formaldehyde were studied using the muscle architectural method. Results Muscle weight The long head of the biceps brachii was 81.72±23.26g, the short head was 67.20±20.43g, and the brachialis was 158.44±34.00g. Muscle fiber length The long head of the biceps brachii was 9.32±0.77cm, the short head was 10.24±0.70cm, and the brachialis was 8.09±0.35cm. The coracobrachialis was 20.8±3.06 °. Physiological cross-sectional area/muscle weight (CSA/MW) of biceps long head 0.10±0.009, short head 0.09±0.005, brachialis 0.12±0.009. Muscle fiber length/physiological cross-sectional area (FL/CSA) of biceps long head 1.00±0.24, short head 1.74±0.78, brachialis 0.44±0.07. Conclusion Biceps is a speed muscle that can provide a large speed and range of motion; brachialis tends to be designed for strength; coracobrachialis is a pennate muscle, and its main function is to maintain the posture of the upper limb and the stability of the shoulder joint.
