Do you know that Vishay has launched sensor modules suitable for light curtain applications with reflection and proximity detection distances of 2 m and 30 m respectively? What are its uses? Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock code: VSH) announced the launch of five A new series of infrared (IR) sensor modules in a compact package---TSSP9xxx. Vishay Semiconductors TSSP9xxx AGC 0 devices feature a fast response time of 300 μs, reflection and proximity detection distances of 2 meters and 30 meters respectively, making them suitable for light curtain and perimeter guard applications.
Compared with the previous generation of devices, the fixed gain sensor released recently has a high degree of anti-interference ability, is not affected by spurious signals, and the output pulse width is closer to the optical pulse burst length. Furthermore, the detection threshold is nearly constant over the temperature range of -25 °C to +85 °C, and the effective detectable infrared signal is above DC illumination levels.
The TSSP9xxx AGC 0 uses variable intensity burst mode, ideal for fast proximity applications (~15 ms). The sensor is suitable for detecting the distance of objects and can be used in toys, remote control aircraft, robots and smart proximity switches. At the same time, it can also be used as a reflective sensor for hand dryers, paper towel or soap dispensers, automatic faucets, toilets, vending machine falling object detection, as well as security equipment and pet access doors. To simplify application design, the TSSP9xxx series sensors integrate PIN photodiodes and sensor ICs in small Minimold (TSSP930..), Mold (TSSP940..), Heimdall (TSSP950..), Panhead (TSSP960..) and Minicast (TSSP980..) .) in packaging.
The module operates with a voltage of 2.0 V to 3.6 V, a supply current of only 0.8 mA, and a carrier switching frequency of 38 kHz and 56 kHz. The sensor receives IR pulses from an emitter with a peak wavelength of 940 nm. The device is insensitive to supply voltage and ripple noise, shields against EMI, and has an IR filter that suppresses visible light. TSSP9xxx series sensors comply with RoHS and Vishay green standards and are halogen-free.
The new sensor is available now for sampling and in volume production, with a lead time of four weeks. The above is Vishay's introduction of sensor modules suitable for light curtain applications with reflection and proximity detection distances of 2 m and 30 m respectively. I hope it can be helpful to everyone.
